The Importance of Building Your Brand

Updated: Jun 26, 2020

You've already spent countless of hours on other social platforms telling people about your product and sleepless nights looking at your branding board and designing your website, making sure it has the right colors and pictures in the right spots. What more could you do possibly do to #buildyourbrand?

Are you looking at this blog post thinking I'm crazy and you're one second away from closing this page and never returning? Well, let me tell you exactly I mean. If what I said above is all you've done to build your brand, you could be doing a lot more.

Your brand isn't just about what service you provide, what you sell or the colors in your logo. Your brand is YOU.

-What kind of person are you?

-What are you willing to put out there and how far are you willing to do for your clients?

-What is your personality?

These are all things that are included in your branding. Your brand is what your clients will know you for. Dream with me for a moment. Imagine you're in a fancy Japanese restaurant. They serve the best sushi in town and you're having a mad sashimi craving. You go into the restaurant, get seated, and wait... Where is the waiter? It's been 20 minutes and no one has come to take your order, you've already finished your water and you're about to shrivel up into nothing but skin and bones. You decide to wait a little longer because you REALLY want their sashimi. 20 more minutes go by and you decide to leave. You walk out of the restaurant in a huff and no one working there even cared that you were practically fuming from the ears as you left. You get in your car and you Google the nearest sushi restaurant. You find one 10 more miles further from where you live, and you decide to read the reviews. Everyone raves about their customer service and the quick serving time. Compared to the experience you just had, you could really use some good customer service. You decide to drive the 10 miles to go to the little sushi restaurant. You are seated and in 5 minutes have your first order in front of you. Considering you have turned into a skeleton by this time you are SUPER impressed with the attentiveness of this wait staff. The next day you see on the news that at the same time you were at the fancy restaurant, there was a celeb dining with you. After thinking for all of 2.5 seconds you decide you would rather drive further to go to a smaller, less rated restaurant because you like the service versus going to the best sushi restaurant in town because of how they treat their less famous customers.

Let's stop dreaming now and take a moment to ask yourself these questions:

"How do I service my clients?"

"What type of personality do I show them?"

"What will you do for them, no matter the circumstances? "

"Who am I in front of my clients?"

Once you have the answers to these questions, you will have a better understanding of how you should build your brand. If you're having a difficult time coming up with your brand, feel free to reach out and I can ask you specific questions that will help you target your personality traits and figure out who you want to be as a business owner.
